Utkalika Qatar, a socio-cultural organisation under the aegis of the Indian embassy in Qatar, celebrated the Diwali festival recently.
Utkalika Qatar, a vibrant Odia society, represents the eastern state of Odisha and is actively involved in social, cultural and philanthropic activities. This year the event was organised at the brand-new multipurpose auditorium of DPS- Monarch International School at Al Wukair.
The evening kicked off with the lighting of the lamp followed by spectacular performances by Utkalika artists. A dazzling display of the shades of Odisha, an elegant exhibition of a variety of sarees and other handloom materials by the Utkalika family on the stage captivated the audience.
A variety of folk dances, parody, melodrama, and Hindi and Odia songs mesmerised the crowd.
Children also got an opportunity to display their talent and harness their creativity. This encourages them to stay culturally rooted with their mother land.
The gathering enjoyed the evening which culminated in a delicious dinner. The occasion brings opportunity for the Utkalika family to meet, greet and be a part of the larger Odia diaspora.
