Qatar’s national football team defender Bassam al Rawi, who got injured during the opening match of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup against Iraq on Tuesday, has suffered a fracture in his right leg and will miss the rest of the tournament, according to Qatar Football Association (QFA ).
In a statement released on QFA’s website it was informed that Al Rawi will be away from the rest of the national team’s matches in the Gulf Cup, noting that the player will now need surgical treatment to his broken leg.
Al Rawi underwent a surgery on Wednesday.
Al Rawi was replaced by Salem al Hajri during the match against Iraq.
