Bangladesh MHM School and College celebrated the 49th Victory Day of Bangladesh with patriotic fervour and passion. Colourful events were organised on the school premises on December 16, paying tributes to the freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice in the War for Independence in 1971.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar and Chairman of the school HE Ashud Ahmed hoisted the national flag. A prayer was offered for the freedom fighters and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibor Rahman.
In his speech, Director of the school Lieutenant Commander Anwar Khurshid stressed the importance of independence for all nations. He remembered with gratitude the greatest leader of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In his speech, HE Ashud Ahmed highlighted the importance of understanding the glorious history of the country. He also paid rich tributes to the martyrs through whose sacrifices Bangladesh became an independent nation and Bangladeshis got their own identity.
As part of the celebrations, the school organised a cultural programme, which included a performance by lecturer Abu Shama, poem recitations, songs and other performances highlighting the history and traditions of Bangladesh. Students of the Elementary School participated in a drawing competition while their counterparts in the Middle School took part in patriotic song and drama competitions. The winners received prizes from the school director, principal and vice-principal.
