DohaBadr Muhammad Al Darwish, President of Qatar Equestrian & Modern Pentathlon Federation, termed this year as exceptional for Qatari sports in general because it is the year of FIFA World Cup 2022 being hosted by Qatar and being held for the first time in the Middle East and Arab region.
Speaking at the opening round of Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab, Al Darwaish said the equestrian season has therefore started early this year so that the riders can get into the groove before the season takes a break during the World Cup in November and December.Al Darwish confirmed that the calendar of local championships will go according to what is planned, most notably HH The Amir’s Equestrian Festival which will be held in February 2023, in addition to the two annual international events organized at Al Shaqab, member Qatar Foundation.
Al Darwish stressed that the atar’s equestrian team is currently preparing for participation at a camp in the Netherlands ahead of the qualifiers for the finals of Paris 2024 Olympic Games besides other Arab and international championships.The QEMPF president noted that the cooperation between Qatar Equestrian Federation and Al Shaqab in organizing local and international championships has achieved many successes, most notably the establishment of the Longines - Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour which is being held for the sixth year in a row.
He thanked all authorities and institutions that sponsor the annual series and all equestrian activities, which have had an impact on the successes achieved.
