SIDRA Medicine will be hosting the 4th Qatar Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference (QPEM) 2020 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Doha, from January 10 to 12.
QPEM aims to provide high-quality, evidence-based update for healthcare practitioners involved in the emergency and urgent care of children.
The event will be hosted by the Department of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine and Hamad Medical Corporation.
The conference is expected to welcome over 600 healthcare professionals from across the globe including physicians, nurses, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, allied health practitioners and pharmacists. It is targeted towards professionals working in paediatric emergency medicine and other specialties involved in the emergency and urgent care for children.
Prof Khalid al Ansari, chair of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine, said: "Enhancing the skill set and knowledge of emergency medicine practitioners in the country alongside peers from other hospitals locally and internationally, aligns with Sidra Medicine’s vision and role to advance paediatric healthcare services. We are pleased to partner with Hamad Medical Corporation and jointly delivering comprehensive healthcare services for the children of Qatar.”
Key topics to be covered at QPEM 2020 are resuscitation care, trauma management and evidence for best practice. Quality and patient safety, sepsis care, toxicology, neonatal emergencies as well as fluid management in paediatrics will also be on the agenda. Besides, delegates can attend separate sessions related to the latest research studies and patient experience within an emergency department setting.
"At the end of the conference, we hope that our delegates will have expanded their knowledge on a variety of key points such as recognition and management of common, yet potentially serious conditions in patients. The conference also covers topics on critical thinking as well as the ability to discuss research in paediatric emergency medicine,” added Prof Ansari.
QPEM 2020 will also feature pre-conference workshops with topics covering Pediatric Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Pediatric Procedural Sedation Programs and Emergency Management of Pediatric Airway.
