Medical experts from all over the world will meet at Qatar National Convention Center from January 11 to 13 for a Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) conference exploring precision medicine approaches to the treatment of congenital muscular dystrophies and neuromuscular disorders.
Nine distinguished international speakers from elite universities and research institutes in France, Switzerland, USA and the UK will give talks presenting their experiences at the conference.
Dr Alice Abdel Aleem is one of the speakers at the conference, an academic researcher and a certified clinical geneticist licensed under the QCHP. Her educational and research activities and her clinical experiences are in the field of Human Genetics/Neurogenetics.
The conference is open to invitees only on January 11 and 12, but will be open to the general public on the final day, January 13.
The event will focus in particular on the potential for precision and genomic treatment approaches to congenital muscular weakness in myopathies and dystrophies. It will also address the challenges facing implementation of such treatments and will outline ongoing international efforts to overcome these challenges. The conference is sponsored by Qatar National Research Fund, a Qatar Foundation member.
