The Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) organised the third Quaid-e-Azam U-12 Inter-School Football Tournament on its premises in Mesaimeer area. Eight teams took part in the two-day event. Pool A comprised Doha Turkish School, German International School, TNG School Wakra and the host team PISQ Green, while Pool B consisted of Stafford Sri Lankan School, Gulf English School and PISQ Blue.
PISQ Vice Principal (Boys Wing) Raja Nasir Mehmood, Vice Principal of Turkish School Muhammet Kilicsallayan, Headmistress of KG Wing Mubaraka and Admin Officer Jamil Ahmed were among those who attended the opening ceremony. The event started with the lining up of all the teams present in the arena. Hassan Elahi took the oath from the players. The national anthems of Qatar and Pakistan were played on the occasion.
The opening match was played between PISQ Green and German International School. PISQ Green won the match by scoring 7 goals while German School couldn’t score any goal. Muneeb Ahmed of PISQ Green scored 5 goals. The second match was played between Gulf English School and Stafford Sri Lankan School. Gulf English School won the match 3-2. It was a thrilling match. The third match was played between Doha Turkish School and TNG School Wakra. Doha Turkish School defeated TNG School 3-1. The fourth match was played between Gulf English School and PISQ Blue. After a good display of stamina and techniques by the players, the match ended in level 2-2. Gulf English School qualified for the final after winning this match in penalty kicks. The fifth match was played between PISQ Green and Doha Turkish School. PISQ Green won 5-0 and qualified for the final.
The final match of the tournament was played between PISQ Green and Gulf English School. It was a tough match and both teams showcased their best skills. PISQ Green won the match by scoring a solitary goal. Ahmed Jehan of PISQ Green scored the winning goal. Gulf English School goal-keeper Abdulla Al Motawaa displayed a superb showing by saving 10 goals.
The referees included M Mulaffer Samulebbe from Stafford Sri Lankan School and Noor Hussain. Tariq Hameed (PISQ Junior Wing) was field jury official. The coaches of PISQ team included sports in-charge Majid Khan and Adnan Ashraf, an international hockey player. Shahzado Bhutto and Javaid Hussain compered the tournament.
The highest scorer of the event was Muneeb Ahmed PISQ of Green with six goals and was declared the ‘Player of the Tournament’. Abdulla Al-Motawaa of Gulf English School was declared the best goal-keeper.
PISQ Principal Nargis Raza Otho distributed certificates, medals and trophies to the players, coaches, officials and captains of the participating teams.
