The book fair, which will be held from January 9 to 18, will see the participation of about 335 Arab and international publishing houses.
Khaled al Muhannadi, head of the Katara House Publishing pavilion at the exhibition, said the house will participate in the fair with about 150 book titles, which include novels, poetry collections, critical and linguistic studies, biographies and translations, as well as many books on Qatari heritage, including marine heritage, popular crafts and traditional dhow.
He said Katara Publishing House is participating in the Doha International Book Fair, which is among the largest book fairs in the Arab world, for the third time in a row.
He added that the Katara Publishing House is one of the cultural projects to provide a local and international platform for literary and cultural production.
He said the publishing house also contributes to raising the level of interest in the Arabic novel, studies and cultural research to enhance knowledge and consolidate Arab and Islamic cultural heritage by attracting a selection of writers and publishing their works.
Muhannadi praised the Ministry of Culture and Sports for its efforts in making the Doha Book Fair a favourite event for people from inside and outside Qatar, through development ideas that make each edition of the exhibition distinct.
Katara Publishing House has so far published about 100 books, including 60 novels in Arabic, English and French and other books in Arabic on topics such as pearl diving, Oud, falconry, pigeons, dhows, and Arab art, novel and literature.
The collection also includes an anthology of Arabic poems on Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) selected from Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet.
