Shop owners at the Omani market in Al Mamoura are now preparing to permanently move to Al Sailiya Central Market for vegetables and fruits and Al Wakra Central Market for livestock.
At Al Sailiya and Al Wakra central markets, a variety of items such as dates, spices, household accessories and other things are available — the products that were available at the old Omani market shops.
Activities at the new markets will begin from Friday, January 10.
The vendors at the market said the new markets show an improvement in the level of services provided to stores and the public, especially cleaning and the internal system of the market, which encourages consumers to enjoy shopping, especially in Al Sailiya, due to its proximity to Doha and the surrounding areas.
The Omani market, which is about 40 years old, was formally established in 1979 and opened in 1980.
The market is characterised by the diversity of its exhibits, and the aim of its establishment was to set up a marketing square that brings together the products of the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf, such as dates of various types, olive oil and truffles.
The Omani market also sells traditional dried food, barbecue charcoal and others.
