The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has accomplished highways network in excess of 750 km which bring a qualitative leap and enhanced traffic all over the country.
"The highways completed by Ashghal represent about 95 percent of the road network connecting the stadiums which will host the 2022 World Cup. That highways actually helped the fans reach a number of stadiums that hosted the FIFA Club World Cup and Gulf Cup,” Ashghal President Saad bin Ahmed al Muhannadi said in his speech during the first day of the World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET) on Sunday.
In 2019 alone, he said, Ashghal has accomplished 400 km of local road works and infrastructures serving many residential areas.
He said Ashghal has also signed 7 new contracts worth QR3 billion to serve 3,090 housing plots, based on the architectural plan approved by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
He stressed that these achievements come within the framework of the state’s interest in the infrastructure, construction and reconstruction sector in line with the aspirations of its national vision 2030 and to serve hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Ashghal is currently working on implementing a wide range of infrastructure projects throughout the country according to its vision: Excellence in delivering and managing efficient sustainable infrastructure, he added.
Muhannadi noted the cooperation between all governmental and relevant institutions in the country to provide efficient and sustainable infrastructure through planning, design integrated infrastructure programmes that support the accelerated development witnessed by the state.
