THE Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) launched on Tuesday an electronic system for providing equivalence certificates for school children.
Announcing this at a press conference, Assistant Undersecretary for the Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Education Khalid Abdullah al Harqan said the service will be offered in two phases, with the first meant for private school students in Qatar, and the second for students coming from abroad.
He pointed out that the step has been taken due to the growing movement of students from one school to the other with the increase in the number of private schools in Qatar.
He said that such students need equivalence of their diplomas for the transition to happen.
He noted that many students of private schools, who are completing 12th grade in Qatar, need equivalence of their school certificates, whether to get admission in Qatar or abroad, or to join the labour market.
About 7,000 requests for provisional school certificates were received in 2019, including 4,000 from within Qatar and 3,000 from abroad, Harqan revealed.
