RADISSON Blu Hotel Doha will challenge the current world record on the largest serving of fried chicken at an event to be held at the hotel’s Giwana Ballroom on February 29, from 2pm to 6pm.
The leap year special of the upper upscale hotel brand will feature a preparation by its team of over 2,000 kilos of fried chicken with the intent to break the current record for the ‘World’s largest serving of fried chicken’.
Qatar was the first to hold this world title in 2008 when Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Doha in Villagio Mall succeeded in achieving the Guinness World Record at 336 kilos. Last year, Japan bagged the world record at 1667.301 kilos set by the Karafesu Project Councilin Nakatsu, Oita.
Approximately 2,600 whole chickens will be cut into pieces and fried by Radisson Blu Hotel Doha’s team of chefs culminating in a fabricated platter where it will be weighed. The cooking process will be done under strict supervision and in compliance with the highest standards of hygiene and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
After the event, the fried chicken will be distributed free to the visitors on a first come, first serve basis.
"This year, Qatar will regain the world title record. Mobilising my teams across every department in setting a new world record reinforces our team spirit. It’s amazing to see the positive impact we can make when we all come together,” said Radisson Blu Doha General Manager Gordon MacKenzie.
Executive Chef Kulvinder Chandhok added, "I am grateful to our partners Sadia, Ola, Rayyan, Integral Uniforms, Spirit Events and Radio Olive for helping us in realising this challenge; without them, this effort will not be possible.”
The team will come to know the result in the weeks to follow after Guinness World Record adequately reviews the submitted evidence of the record attempt.
