The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) recently organised a clean-up activity on Al Wakra Family Beach, along with an awareness event on coronavirus and National Address registration.
The event was held in association with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) under the theme ‘Protect and preserve the natural environment and keep the marine habitat safe and trash-free’.
More than 110 people took part in the clean-up event, led by AMUAAQ Presided Jawed Ahmad.
The programme started with the recitation of verses from Holy Qur’an. Beach clean-up tips were briefed by Fawaz Bader Ali al Saada, representative of the MME.
Saada said that sustainability is the overall goal of the MME and everyone is working within the same system to promote the culture of sustainability by spreading awareness. He appreciated AMUAAQ for organising the clean-up and the awareness session on coronavirus and the National Address registration.
Jawed Ahmad said: “This programme is an effort to raise awareness of the community on the importance of protecting the marine life. There are approximately 0.7 million Indian expatriates in Qatar. If they contribute towards the sustainable landscape of Qatar, it will make a huge difference.”
PN Baburajan, president of ICBF and chief guest of the event, urged all members to come together to fulfil the AMUAAQ’s mission towards the community and the alma mater.
Shemi, representatives of Corona Task Force, briefed the participants on coronavirus and protection tips. Dr Ashna Nusrat supported her on a question-answer session.
Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash and Gautam conducted an environment-themed quiz contest. Neharika won the contest, while Naz and Alhena won the second and third prizes, respectively.
Avinash Gaikwad (general secretary, ICBF), Mohammed Naim (advisor), Ibraiz Khan (president, KMCA), Mohammed Naim, Mohammed Farman Khan, Mohammed Faisal Naseem, Faiyyaz, Alamgir, Umer, Anjum, Shad, YawerHussain, Gautam, Irfanullah (Bazm E Sadaf), Rizwan Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Irfan Ansari and several community representatives attended the event.
