The MES Indian School has ensured uninterrupted learning for its students through a Parent Portal and its e-learning programme. The students are currently staying home as per the directives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The first school in Qatar to implement e-learning in all classes, MES has come out with an instant solution to ensure students’ continued learning during the time of crisis.
As per the measures, students can access to the school e-learning/portal content at home with their user credentials provided by the school. Customised videos, videos of classes and content to e-learning resources are uploaded, enabling students to complete their studies at home. In the absence of physical classrooms and to cope with the recent development, teachers think of ways to keep the children motivated.
Lessons are uploaded on the e-learning portal, while notes, reading materials, worksheets, homework and other learning resources are made available on the Parent Portal in formats of PDF and JPG. Teachers are also made available to answer students’ queries and provide guidelines through WhatsApp.
A team of school officials comprising heads of sections, heads of department and senior teachers ensure that the lesson-notes and other assignments earmarked for completion for the term are dispatched. Students are required to finish their lessons periodically as new lessons are uploaded in a phased manner.
At the junior level, customised activity sheets are prepared according to the age group of children and uploaded for the students to complete. Principal of the school Hameeda Kadar requested parents to play a complementary role at this juncture by monitoring their wards and ensuring they are utilising their time in a fruitful manner.
