Dr Khaled al Khater, vice-president of the Office of Administration and Financial Affairs at Qatar University (QU), has affirmed that the university is coping with the situation and the workflow according to the plans drawn up.
Qatar is currently dealing with a very sensitive issue which requires all office roles to be active and work remotely according to plan. Based on findings in the state of coronavirus, QU takes decisions that ensure the health safety of male and female students as well as administrative and academic staff.
QU meetings are conducted remotely, in compliance with the precautionary measures and by monitoring the spread of Coronavirus.
Dr Khater said, “Different health departments at the university are working on ways to avoid this spread. The University is making constant efforts to provide tools and work with technology through the use of various services such as Blackboard, Microsoft Teams and WebEx. Workshops and trainings were made to make these system friendly enough to process, hotline is provided to students which answers all questions of students and academic staff.”
Dr Khater spoke of the measures that the university has taken in this regard, beginning with the university’s work force, in compliance with the decision of the cabinet, which states: “Reducing the number of employees present in the workplaces of government entities to 20 percent of the total workforce of each government entity, in order to complete the required work for the functioning and regularity of the public facilities. This happens while 80 percent of employees will start their works remotely from their homes or upon request, which is effective for two weeks.”
Dr Khater thanked the university’s colleges and departments for their service in the light of current circumstances. The clear and distinctive efforts of facilities and security management to organise and coordinate matters demonstrate that they are able to make certain decisions in the future.
“I urge all members of university to abide the rule and regulations and to continue to work with same enthusiasm during the time of crisis,” he added.
