Tribune News NetworkDoha Qatar Chamber on Wednesday hosted a meeting with a delegation from the United Republic of Tanzania led by Professor Eliamani Sedoyeka, permanent secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.The meeting was attended by Qatar Chamber’s assistant director-general for Government Relations and Committees Affairs Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri, alongside many Qatari businessmen and representatives of Qatar Chamber’s Tourism Committee and travel agencies.Also present at the meeting were Fatma M Khamis, principal secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Heritage Zanzibar, and a number of Tanzanian officials from the tourism sector.The meeting touched on cooperation relations in the tourism sector and the means to enhance them, and the available opportunities available in this sector in both countries.Speaking at the meeting, Mansouri said that Qatar and Tanzania enjoy close relations, noting that the two countries’ trade exchange grew by 66 percent from QR169 million in 2020 to QR282 million last year.He also stressed the firm common desire of both sides to further develop their relations, especially in light of the tremendous potential both countries own, underscoring those Qatari businessmen are interested to learn about opportunities galore for investment in Tanzania in many sectors such as tourism and agriculture.On his part, Professor Eliamani Sedoyeka assured that Qatar’s host of the FIFA World Cup 2022 represents a good opportunity for both countries to boost their cooperation in tourism, noting that the objective of the delegation’s visit is to promote Tanzanian tourism in Qatar, as well as the opportunities galore in this sector to attract Qatari investors.Sedoyeka affirmed that the Tanzanian side is eager to develop economic relations and establish partnerships with their Qatari counterparts, and exchange expertise between private sectors in both countries.He reviewed the investment environment in his country and the incentives offered by the Tanzanian government for Qatari investors willing to establish businesses there, noting that Tanzania is rife with investment opportunities in various sectors and areas.
