MANKIND is facing an unprecedented challenge in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. Nations across the world are endeavouring to combat this increasingly challenging battle, utilising all necessary and available resources.
Our host country, the State of Qatar, is doing so in an especially resolute and effective manner. The timely and firm measures have gone a long way in containing the spread of the viral disease in Qatar.
It is indeed reassuring for me, that in keeping with its wonderful traditions, the State of Qatar has made no distinction between citizen, resident or even visitor. Medical and healthcare support of the highest standard has been provided to everyone who has unfortunately been infected by the virus.
Similarly praiseworthy action has been taken to reach out to all sections of the society affected by social distancing measures and restrictions on public gathering by ensuring continuous supply of food, medicines and other essential goods, particularly to those parts of the city which are affected by the essential lockdown.
Based on time-tested fraternal ties of mutual-trust, Pakistan and Qatar have remained in close coordination to tackle this global challenge. Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi had a telephonic conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. They reviewed bilateral cooperation and coordination efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
On behalf of the Pakistani community, which considers Qatar as their second home, I express appreciation for all the measures taken by the authorities for their welfare during these difficult times. I am glad to state that the Embassy of Pakistan has received continuous support from all the concerned government departments in this regard.
I take this opportunity to call upon members of the Pakistani community to fully support and cooperate with the authorities. Decisions taken by the authorities are for the benefit and protection of all the people residing in the Qatar. This current challenge can only be overcome if it is tackled collectively. I urge upon my compatriots living and working in Qatar to never compromise on their own safety and the safety of the society. This goal can only be achieved by strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the State institutions. I will also strongly advise my fellow Pakistanis to never shy away from contacting healthcare providers in case anyone develops symptoms of the disease, as not doing so will deprive them from the world-standard medical care and treatment and putting valuable lives at risk
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Tallah protect us all.
Long Live Pakistan-Qatar friendship.
