The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani directed sending urgent medical aid to Lebanon to support the efforts of Lebanon to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.
In a statement, Qatar Fund for Development said the shipment of urgent medical aid to Lebanon, weighing 10 tonnes, was sent through Qatar Airways. The shipment contains multiple medical equipment and supplies.
It is noteworthy that this medical assistance provided by Qatar comes within the framework of its support to brotherly and friendly countries in overcoming the coronavirus pandemic. It is a contribution to international efforts to combat the spread of the epidemic, which poses a threat to the whole world.
Upon the Amir’s order, Qatar had recently sent two field hospitals to Italy to support the fight against the country’s novel coronavirus outbreak. One of the field hospitals has a 5,200-square-metre area and the other a 4,000-square-metre area.
