The Industrial Area streets under lockdown reopened on Wednesday, with the entry and exit being regulated strictly as part of efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The phased lifting of the lockdown began a few weeks ago, with the first phase seeing the reopening of Streets 1, 2 and Al Wakalat on April 22. The reopening of the rest of the Industrial Area is being implemented in adherence to all the preventive precautionary measures determined by the Ministry of Public Health. The reorganisation of exit and entry will result in resuming work and supply chains inside and outside the area to normal, while making sure that the community is not at risk of infections. These procedures will allow the following groups to enter and exit the area: employers, employees who work in the area but live outside, residents who live in the area but work outside. —Santhosh Chandran
