TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORKDOHAThe Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ celebrated the first batch of graduates of its training programmes in the presence of Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi, president of Ashghal, as well as a number of managers, affairs directors, assistant managers, section heads, and partners, in addition to the graduates.The ceremony saw the graduation of 181 employees and engineers from the ‘Ashghal’ training programmes, which the Human Resources Department has launched over the last seven years to develop engineers and employees from various entities and universities.The programmes include; Leadership Development Program, designed for employees in leadership and supervisory positions, Project Management Program, designed to develop the capabilities of fresh Qatari engineers, Succession Program, designed to prepare Qatari leaders to hold leadership positions in Ashghal in the future, Graduate Development Program, designed to develop fresh graduates (non-engineers), Administrative Development Program, designed to develop clerk positions, Individual Development Plan, designed to develop the skills and capabilities of all Qatari employees. In addition to, Professional Certification Program for Qatari employees who are registered in professional certification program.Eng. Yousef Al-Emadi, Director of Project Affairs, expressed his delight in graduating Ashghal employees and engineers in his opening remarks, pointing out that one of Ashghal’s most important strategic objectives is to increase the number of competent Qatari employees, develop their capabilities and skills through Ashghal’s development and training programs, as Ashghal’s role extends beyond constructing roads, bridges, drainage networks, and government buildings.Rashid Saeed M A Al-Hajri, Acting Manager of Human Resources Department, stated that Ashghal is committed to continuous development of human resources by conducting studies and setting high standards to determine training programs needed, and developing appropriate training programmes to ensure best performance.The training programmes aim to produce exceptionally competent Qatari cadres capable of taking on leadership roles in Ashghal and enforcing the first pillar of Qatar Vision 2030, namely human development, while also achieving the authority’s goal of excellence in the implementation and management of efficient and sustainable infrastructure.Shaikha Basahal, Head of Training & Organizational Development Section, stated, "We are proud of the graduates, and we believe in the importance of improving and developing human cadres. Ashghal has actively worked to achieve and effectively contribute by designing, preparing, and implementing several specialised training programmes ranging in duration from 24-36 months.”She also said that the programmes were developed in collaboration with various universities, local and international training centers, as well as experts and consulting firms, because training programs differ depending on employees, their job level, and expertise. During the past year of 2021 alone, there were 3,472 training participations in training programmes using various and diverse training methods such as: (internal training, job training, supervised training, E-learning, work attachment, etc.) In order to meet our specific needs, even if they were not met by the labor market, we devised a variety of programmes."The authority is always keen on keeping up with technological development on all levels, particularly when it comes to the development of human cadres. We ensure that our employees attend exhibitions, conferences, and international forums in order to stay on top of continuous development,” she added.Eng. Yousef Al-Emadi, Director of Project Affairs, honoured partners who contributed to providing support to Ashghal’s engineers through the development of training programs during the ceremony.
