Tehran Iran’s military said on Thursday it had successfully tested what it described as a "new generation” of cruise missiles, destroying imaginary targets from a distance of 280 kilometres.
The tests were conducted during military exercises in the Gulf of Oman and in a northern region of the Indian Ocean, the armed forces press department told Iranian state TV.
The successful test means Iran now has the ability to increase the range of its rockets at any time, the country’s armed forces said.
Iran has both short-range and medium-range missiles, the most powerful of which are thought to have a range of up to 2,200 kilometres.
The West has raised concerns that these missiles could be capable of reaching Israel. (DPA)
