Qatar Reads and Qatar National Library (QNL) have announced the official launch of their ‘Mommy to Be’ programme, a unique initiative designed to offer support to expectant mothers and those with newborns and toddlers aged aged up to 2 years.
The programme is divided into three phases: the pregnancy period, the postnatal period and child’s early years. The reading materials are curated by a committee of experts from QNL, while the workshops aim to equip expectant mothers with a range of practical skills, with topics ranging from prenatal yoga to reading for toddlers.
“To create a generation of readers and leaders, we need to plant the seeds of learning, curiosity and creativity from an early age. And this is the overarching aim of Mommy to Be,” said Aljazi T Al Henzab, project manager, Qatar Reads.
“Mommy to Be is more than just a programme. It provides access to educational reading materials, interactive workshops and the opportunity to connect with likeminded people through discussions and networking events.
“Ultimately, pregnancy is an exciting time in a mother’s life, but it can also cause stress and anxiety. So, through this initiative, we want work hand-in-hand with our members to support them on their journey to motherhood, and as they navigate this period of their live,” Henzab said.
Upcoming webinars include a discussion titled ‘What To Expect When You Are Expecting’ on July 13 with Dr Mahmoud Zidan, a specialist from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Hamad Medical Corporation. The session will be in Arabic. To register, visit: https://event.webinarjam.com/register/145/y1k8rhgq
Qatar Reads, part of Qatar Foundation, offers a range of other programs for various age groups, including the Family Reading Program for children aged 3-13 years and Read to Lead, which targets professionals. (TNN)
