The Qatar Basketball Federation have appointed Serbian Miodrag Perisic as head coach of the national basketball team.
The 47-year-old, who has coached in Egypt, Lebanon, Romania and Bahrain, will have a lot to do to turn the fortunes of the struggling basketball team. The QBF had sacked Greek coach Panos Yiannara in mid-June following a string of poor results.
In a statement, Qatar national team manager Abdulrahman al Hitmi said, Perisic has been appointed after a long period of study.
"We worked a lot to identify the new national team coach. We considered several names before finally deciding to go with Perisic. I hope he can help our players in the coming days,” he said.
Perisic has won titles in Egypt and was also a finalist with Beirut Club in the 2019 Arab Club Championship.
