Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Joseph Aoun has thanked Qatar for always standing by Lebanon, especially in this tragic time following the Beirut blast.
He appreciated the initiative of His Highness The Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in
extending a helping hand to the Lebanese people and sending aircraft loaded with fields hospitals and medical
supplies.
This came as the Lebanese Army chief received Qatar’s Ambassador to Lebanon HE Mohammed Hassan Al Jaber and a delegation from the search and rescue team (Lekhwiya) and the Qatari army team.
He praised the efforts made by the search and rescue team and Qatari army.
General Aoun praised the Qatari army team for setting up two field hospitals at a record time to receive the blast victims. General Aoun appreciated the solidarity shown by the two Qatari teams, which reflects the fraternal relations between the two countries.
General Aoun expressed his intention to pay a visit to Doha to personally thank and appreciate the senior officials in Qatar.
For his part, the head of the Qatari delegation, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Eid Al Mohannadi, on behalf of the Search and Rescue Team, said the Commander of the Lebanese Army provided all facilities to the team in Lebanon.
The Qatari ambassador reiterated Qatar’s support for Lebanon and praised the Lebanese army’s good management of the crisis and the organization in receiving and distributing aid in coordination with the authorities.
