THE MES Indian School’s Boys Section held its PHL ceremony online recently to honour students with outstanding academic performance.
A total of 76 students from Grade VI to XI who featured on the Principal’s Roll of Honour for their academic excellence and students who maintained 100 percent attendance during the academic year 2019-20 were honoured on the occasion.
The Principal’s Roll of Honour was instituted to acknowledge students’ perseverance and to honour their outstanding academic performance.
The chief guest of the ceremony was K Abdul Karim, president officiating, MES Governing Board. The guests of honour included PK Mohamed, general secretary; KP Abdul Azeez, director (Academics), and Principal Mrs Hameeda Kadar.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Karim congratulated the students recognised for their academic feat and remarked that constant learning fuels self-confidence, self-esteem and creativity and empowers students to become life-long learners and critical thinkers.
PK Mohamed congratulated the students and observed that academics is the fulcrum on which the wheel of education revolves.
Abdul Azeez appreciated the supportive roles played by teachers, parents and siblings in contributing significantly to the academic brilliance of the PHL holders.
Mrs Hameeda Kadar also congratulated the meritorious students as well as the 24 students who maintained 100 percent attendance during the academic year 2019-20. She emphasised that there is no short-cut to success.
Among others present on the occasion were: Director MC Muhammed, Mohmmed Ilias, vice principal/head of Boys’ Section officiating; Mrs Annamma Shammy, vice principal/ head of Girls’ Section; and Mrs Baby Shana, head of Academic Inspection, along with heads of departments, teachers, parents and students.
The PHL ceremony was also streamed live on the school’s official Facebook page. Mater Toby James compered the PHL function. Aakash Paul welcomed the gathering and Fahad Mohammed Sajid, head prefect, proposed the vote of thanks.
