INJAZ Qatar, a non-profit organisation and a member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, will host the Zoom online Mubadara Awards Ceremony on Monday, August 31, 2020, which recognises some of Qatar’s most outstanding young entrepreneurs.
The Company Programme and Mubadara are INJAZ Qatar’s most interactive and popular education programme and event during which student enterprises are established through the globally recognised "Company Programme” of Junior Achievement. It has evolved into a major event in the calendar of activities of INJAZ Qatar. Student teams were given a unique opportunity to set up and run a real business over a period of five months, with the guidance of professionals from leading companies across Qatar. 17 student teams have reached the final stage of the programme; 10 student teams from Qatar’s independent, private and international secondary schools and 7 teams from Qatar’s universities. During the programme , students go through the entire life cycle of a start-up venture as they develop a business idea, form a team, raise capital of up to QAR11,000, develop business plans, and produce and sell a product or service. Towards the end of the five months of activity, students present their entrepreneurial ideas to the local market jury of business leaders.
At the upcoming Mubadara 2020 Awards ceremony, the innovative products and services developed by the student companies will be presented and the winners of this year’s competition will be announced, giving them the opportunity to represent Qatar at the INJAZ Al Arab Regional finals.
Students will receive for one of seven awards, which are: The Best Company of the Year award sponsored by "ExxonMobil”, the Most Innovative Product/Service award sponsored by "Qatar Development Bank”, the Best Marketing Plan award sponsored by "Ooredoo”, the Best Social Impact Award sponsored by "HSBC”, the Public Choice Award sponsored by "Frame” along with the Best Company Report and Best Public Presentation awards.
The team that won the Best Company of the Year award (University level) will receive continuous support from the QBIC (Qatar Business Incubation Center) and the QR35.000 seed funding from "BOEING” to start their real business.
Ibrahim Al Mannai, Executive Director of Advisory & Incubation, QDB, said: "Investing in human capacity and developing local talent is one of our top priorities at QDB. The awards ceremony will be hosted by INJAZ Qatar Board Members and representatives of the private and public sectors, including the education sector in Qatar.
