THE Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, has concluded a series of informative workshops in collaboration with Lulu Hypermarket aimed at helping local entrepreneurs enhance their businesses.
The workshops were part of Bedaya’s Foundation Program for 2020, which aims to help entrepreneurs in the relevant procedures to be followed in this regard and educate them about the requirements needed for their participation in major retail stores. The workshops are a continuation of the centre’s efforts to spread the culture and concept of entrepreneurship and enhance the role of youth in society.
In view of the current circumstances and in line with the efforts and precautionary measures that are being taken to prevent and limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), the workshops were live streamed via the interactive Zoom video communications platform over a period of three days. During the workshops, attendees listened to a detailed explanation about the preparations and industrial standards they should be familiar with to facilitate cooperation with Lulu Hypermarket that will subsequently enable them to display their products and market them in the best possible way.
During the first workshop, the centre’s coaches and advisers shed light on the concept of developing projects through the presence of their products in major retail outlets, along with the right mechanism for obtaining licences, and the logistics that must be provided by the entrepreneurs. In addition, the coaches also briefed the attendees on topics such as hygiene, sterilisation, maintenance, components and the products’ materials.
During the second day, logistical matters, innovative storage methods, and deliveries were reviewed. Participants were also informed about invoicing system and the required certificates for products and the barcode system. The third workshop dealt with the packaging system, the best pricing practice, as well as a detailed explanation about export system.
Speaking about the initiative, Abdulla Faleh Al Saeed, Board member and acting general manager of Bedaya Center said, "Through the Foundation Program workshops, we seek to enrich and enhance the capabilities of entrepreneurs in all directions, whether directive or indicative. Our objective is to guide potential entrepreneurs and put them on the right path to venture into the business world. We will continue with our efforts to provide educational and informative workshops and varied consulting services to help them achieve their desired goals.”
"Thanks to the fruitful cooperation with Lulu Hypermarket, we were able to provide entrepreneurs with the most important steps to follow to develop their businesses by making them aware regarding the needed requirements of retail outlets. We are convinced that this cooperation will certainly help the entrepreneurs expand their customer base and achieve a wider reach of their products in one of the most famous shopping centers in Qatar,” he added
Commenting on the
successful cooperation, Dr Mohamed Althaf, director of Lulu Group International said: "These workshops would greatly increase the success potential for new entrepreneurs. We, at Lulu Hypermarket, will be happy to deal with a set of new entrepreneurs with quality information, advise and training. We look
forward to closely collaborate and be part of their success stories.”
