Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané says his anger after being substituted late on in the 2-0 Champions League win over Barcelona was nothing to do with the decision to take him off.
He scored the second goal in Tuesday’s group stage success and then warmly greeted replacement Mathys Tel and coach Julian Nagelsmann when substituted in the 80th minute, only to then hurl a bottle to the ground and disappear to the dressing room.
"I wasn’t angry about the substitution,” Sané told reporters.
"It was OK, I scored a goal, but I didn’t play a good game. That’s why the bottle had to suffer.”
He also scored a good goal in the opening 2-0 win at Inter Milan as his form improves ahead of November’s World Cup – despite his thoughts about Wednesday’s showing.
"I just focus on myself and my performance,” the Germany winger added.
There was less good news on the injury front for Bayern with centre backs Lucas Hernandez, who netted the first, and Dayot Upamecano suffering injuries against Barca and Bayern old boy Robert Lewandowski.
"He felt that something had torn in his adductor muscles,” Nagelsmann said about Hernandez.
Upamecano meanwhile left the Allianz Arena with a bandaged knee while fellow defender Benjamin Pavard went off injured during the game.
