The new national emblem of Qatar that was unveiled on Thursday morning conveys to the citizens and residents the message that “we are one state and one government”, the national emblem website has said.

The new website s designed to equip all ministries and government agencies with the relevant assets to manage all their brand-related resources.

The State of Qatar has upgraded its national emblem to help create a coherent identity, symbolising Qatar’s national unity and vision for future generations.

“Designed to evoke a spirit of togetherness and inspire trust, the new emblem conveys to the citizens and residents of Qatar the message that we are one state and one government. The new emblem is made up of the four key elements of Qatar’s history: the sea, the sword, the palm and the dhow – each of which carries a proud part of Qatar’s rich history, and a nod to the future,” the website said.

The new emblem shows two maroon crossed swords, with a boat (dhow) in between them sailing on maroon waves across an island with two palm trees.

The new version ditches the concentric circular elements in the previous one for a plain, white and rectangular background. While the circles encircled the logo in the previous version with "State of Qatar" written in Arabic and English in them, the latest one has the writing to the right of the coat of arms in black fonts.

The Government Communications Office said the emblem used Lusail Font for its Arabic letters.

“The creation of the Lusail font exemplifies the significance Qatar places on its history and authentic values,” said GCO Spokesperson Dr Mohammed Nuaimi Al Hajri said.

“The new Lusail font is distinguished by its historical significance, as it is derived from the original manuscripts written by the founder of Qatar, Shiekh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, may God rest his soul. In parallel, the English font was inspired by Arabic calligraphy and hand movements.”
