KABUL: At least five civilians were killed in a roadside bomb in Afghanistan’s southern province of Helmand, local authorities said on Saturday.
At least 10 others including women and children were wounded in the blast that hit a bus in Nahr-e Saraj district of the province, the governor’s media office said.
The government blamed the Taliban for the bomb. The militant group has made no comment so far.
Large parts of the province were under the control of the Taliban for years.
The UN Assistance Mission for Afghanistan (UNAMA) has documented 1,282 civilians dead, and a further 2,176 wounded in the first half of this year. (DPA)
