Exclusive items showcasing Ethiopian culture are on display at the third edition of the Traditional Handicrafts Exhibition
that opened at Katara on
Wednesday.
The Ethiopian Embassy in Doha exhibited a live traditional coffee ceremony, along with cultural costumes, traditional handicrafts, paintings, pottery products and other tourism attractions.
Officials, ambassadors and visitors witnessed the coffee ceremony, which was distinctive due to the aroma of coffee beans being roasted. The guests expressed their delight at tasting Arabica coffee from the land of its origin. Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a unique experience symbolising family interaction, hospitality, history and tradition.
Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti along with ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions of participating countries opened the 10-day exhibition.
Ethiopian Ambassador to Qatar HE Samia Zekaria attended the exhibition’s opening ceremony. Officials and representatives visited the stalls and witnessed live demonstrations by the exhibitors.
The exhibition is open to the public from 4pm to 10pm. Besides Ethiopia, the other countries featuring in the expo include Qatar, Syria, Palestine, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan and Iran.
