The headquarters and streets of the city were lit up to announce the integration of the city components — government entities and leading companies have already started working out of iconic buildings in the city and others that are still in the construction stage, including but not limited to: Lusail University, Executive Courts, Qatar Charity, Endowments Authority, Dar Al Sharq, Al Khaleej Insurance, Beema and other top rated contracting companies and government entities.
The cost of lighting the Energy City Qatar amounted to QR15 million, according to the CEO of the city, Eng Hesham Al Emadi.
Around 320 smart poles carrying 640 lights have been deployed by Zigbee Wireless System, which permits complete control of light and conserves energy consumption, he added.
The system is considered "green” as it prevents environmental pollution and improves the work habitat whether for residents or visitors. The light capacity in the city will reach 80 kilowatts, and it is worth noting that the lighting poles contain an electric charger for electric cars and are distributed in all public parks in the city.
The smart multi-functional poles are a new advancement in the urban landscape. Its integration of smart lighting systems, sensors, wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi or cellular technology), battery charger for cars, CCTVs and screens for advertisements, weather information and others function as one cohesive unit.
These remotely-managed smart poles are connected with Fibre Optics to all sectors with Energy City Qatar lighted logo and decorative modern lighting and design.
The city streets are lighted up with three types of smart poles — 12m poles, 10m poles and 8m poles.
"We have put in a lot of effort to meet the highest standards of quality and safety in all city facilities,” the CEO said.
The dream of the Energy City Qatar has been materialised, bringing real added value to the Qatari economy by establishing a world-class sustainable city that implemented the highest international and environmental standards, and technologies in place, Emadi added.
