The Amiri Guard celebrated the conclusion of the 7th edition of the infantry competition for the year 2020 and the graduation of four foundation courses in the presence of the Commander of the Amiri Guard Major-General Hazza bin Khalil Al Shahwani, the deputy commander of the Amiri Guard, the Inspector-General, the assistants of the Commander of the Amiri Guard and a number of department and group leaders, officers from the Qatar Armed Forces and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).
At the beginning of the ceremony, the general report of the competition in which seven factions took part for two weeks was presented. The Protocols Group won the first place as the best faction and Lieutenant Muhammad Saafq Al Anzi was awarded as the best faction leader.
Commander of the Protocols Group Brigadier-General Hitmi Muhammad Al Hitmi expressed his happiness at achieving first place in the annual competition, in which the various departments and groups of the Amiri Guard took part.
Hitmi explained that the competition is a preparation to participate in the national march to celebrate the country’s national day.
He added that the competition aims primarily to emphasise the importance of infantry training as one of the basic and important pillars of military control and linkage, as well as to promote teamwork and contribute to reaching the highest levels of readiness.
For his part, Chairman of the Infantry Contest Committee Captain Mubarak Ali Al Nuaimi, said the competition reflected the level of competence and readiness of the different groups of the Amiri Guard.
He said, this year, the competition was attended by seven factions from different groups and departments, and it consisted of five committees that oversaw the accurate tests that all participants are subject to.
Regarding the graduation of a number of foundational and qualifying courses, Acting Commander of the Amiri Guard School Colonel Ali Arahma Al Muraikhi said, through the directives of the Amiri Guard Command, the focus has been on enhancing training and keeping abreast of modern and advanced developments in the training process in order to reach the highest levels of readiness.
Muraikhi added that the participants carried out a joint exercise at the conclusion of the sessions. The commander of the Amiri Guard later honoured the winners in various branches of the competition and course graduates.
