Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred Umran (FR) (Mister Ginoux / Dixie Darlene) landed his first career success on his second start following his victory in the Prix Caid, a seven-furlong race for three-year-old Purebred Arabian maidens, at Toulouse on Wednesday evening.
Following on from his debut third at Dax, the Elisabeth Bernard’s trainee is clearly on the upgrade. Ridden by Julien Augé, he proved up to the task of containing the sustained attack of Namrood (GB) (General). He managed to keep the challenge of the latter at bay and won by a half-length.
Zarra Star (FR) (Azadi) was a further quarter of a length behind in third.
From the first crop of the PA sire Mister Ginoux, Umran was bred by Al Shaqab Racing.
He hails from a quality US bloodline, which has already been responsible for producing the multiple Group 1 PA winning TM Thunder Struck.
