A new Souq Haraj is all set to open in Al Wakra shortly to offer huge retail area for sale and purchase of used-furniture, carpets and other home accessories.
Ahead of the opening, several businesses in Doha have started shifting their shops to the new premises in Al Wakra.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, manager of a furniture shop said, "We are all set to move our business to the new premises. The official announcement in this regard will be released by the authority concerned later.” Located close to Barwa Village, the new premises, with a state-of-the-art design, is expected to attract a huge number of people as it is located close to several bustling residential areas, including those in Al Meshaf, Al Wukair, Al Wakra and Doha. The location also boasts good connectivity as several roads and highways, including the Al Majd and the Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, pass through the area.
The new Souq Haraj also boasts easy access to roads leading to the Hamad International Airport and the Hamad Seaport.
Many people are expected to visit the market on a daily basis, a driver at the Souq said.
Al Wakra is good location for the Souq Haraj as it is not crowded as Doha and has direct connectivity with Al Khor, Mesaieed, Umm Salal and Ras Laffan, he added. The new 35,000-squaremetre complex will have 325 outlets available for rent with around 900 parking lots.
