Bangkok: A so-called "cruise to nowhere” has returned to port in Singapore a day early due to a passenger testing positive for the novel coronavirus. Singapore’s Health Ministry on Wednesday said that "an 83-year-old male Singaporean on board Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas tested positive for Covid-19 infection this morning.” The man had "reported to the medical centre with diarrhoea, and as part of the protocols was tested for Covid-19 using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test equipment on board the ship,” the ministry said. "Remaining passengers and crew will remain on board the ship until contact tracing is completed” and all will have to take a virus test before they can leave the port, the ministry added. (dpa)
