As Qataris and residents celebrate Qatar National Day, Pratikshya Sapkota, a Nepalese expatriate has described the day as "a period to show love to the country by everyone who calls Qatar home, irrespective of their nationalities”.
"December 18 every year is the tremendous day for all Qataris as well as non-Qatari residents. The Government of Qatar celebrates this day as a huge festival. The National Day is celebrated to show Qataris’ devotion to the homeland promoting all manifestations of social value, solidarity, unity, patriotism, sovereignty and pride of Qatar,” Sapkota said.
She added, "We expats, Nepalese people feel proud to be a part of Qatar. The Qatar Government treats all expatriates fairly and provides services equally. The National Day is one of the outstanding events where thousands of citizens and residents participates enthusiastically. The main attraction for people is the airshow which can be seen in different part of Doha. Likewise, at night, there is marvelous firework show with music, light and giant fireworks.”
She lauded the government of Qatar for providing special areas for the expatriates to show their love to Qatar on the National Day. "Expatriates celebrate this day by showing their cultural dances and songs, among others, while students participate in different activities and show their talent. On National Day, the Embassy of Nepal also participates in the celebration. The Nepalese community usually presents different cultural dances and songs, wearing traditional dresses,” Sapkota said.
She added that citizens and residents use the occasion to express their loveand loyalty to the country. (TNN)
