Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Nayef Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf welcomed on Monday the opening of airspace, land and sea borders between Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Al Hajraf said the move, which comes on the eve of the 41st session of the Supreme Council of the GCC, reflects the commitment and sincere efforts being made to ensure the success of the summit which is held under extraordinary circumstances.
He added that citizens of Gulf countries pin a lot of hopes on the summit in terms of strengthening the GCC, and its ability to overcome all obstacles and challenges. He added that the wisdom of GCC leaders will also help in strengthening the council, given that it represents a strategic choice for all its members.
He stressed that GCC nationals were optimistic that the step would lead to a stronger, more united GCC that boosts the development, progress, security and stability of its members. (QNA)
