Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), a QF partner, is offering prospective high school students a chance to virtually experience the Georgetown Student’s Day of Life on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
With the deadline of February 1 for admissions just around the corner, the event, a student-moderated panel of the GU-Q Faculty, will provide an overview of the enrollment requirements for the next academic year and key information on the school curriculum and majors, classroom experience and career prospects after graduation.
Joseph Hernandez, Director of Admissions at GU-Q, said: “In the fall, our series of open houses focused on admission, financial aid, student life and careers. With this program, we want to ensure that students can engage with our faculty and students, so that they can better understand what it’s like to be a Georgetown student. It will also give them an insight into the academic programme and the many opportunities for research, education, service and personal enrichment they have here at the GU-Q and through the Qatar Foundation. These insights can really help students and families make final college decisions and make the transition to university easier.” Georgetown’s unique interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) degree program is the same internationally recognised curriculum that is available to students at Georgetown’s Washington, DC campus. Majors include International Economics, International History, International Politics, and Culture and Politics. The university also offers three Certificate Study Concentrations and six minors, including Arabic, Economics, Government, History, Philosophy and Theology, which allow students to customise their majors and expand their areas of interest and expertise as graduates.
With the critical skills gained through a BSFS degree from Georgetown, graduates have continued to pursue successful careers in a wide range of industries, including banking, communications, energy, education, business, government, media, and more.
“There is still time to apply for GU-Q, so we invite all students, their families, and their high school counselors to attend, to learn what sets Georgetown apart, and how prospective students can become future Hoyas,” Hernandez added.
Admissions counselors are also available on a daily basis for consultations, and the university’s website includes application requirements, answers to frequently asked questions, and program information to make the process easier to navigate. The available online resources include a series of videos that take students step-by-step through the entire admission process.
