Riyadh: Saudi Arabia said it had thwarted an unspecified air attack against the capital Riyadh on Saturday, state TV reported.
The Saudi-led coalition, which has been fighting Yemen’s Houthi rebels since 2015, said "a hostile air target towards Riyadh has been intercepted and destroyed,” according to broadcaster al-Ekhbariya.
No further information was given about the target or nature of the attack.
However, Houthi spokesman Yahya Sare’e denied that an attack had been carried out against the kingdom during the past 24 hours.
