DPS-Monarch International School Doha celebrated India’s 72nd Republic Day in its multi-purpose hall, with all the COVID-19 precautionary measures in place as advised by the Ministry of Public Health.
School President Hassan Chougule, Vice-President Yasir Nainar and Chief Guest Dr Mohan Thomas hoisted the tri-colour flag along with guests of honour PN Babu Rajan, Ziad Usman, Harish Kanjani, Rocky Fernandes, Gopi Varadhan, Shaheen and Sana Ullah, and School Principal Meenal Bakshi.
The school’s headmistresses, a few students, and academic and administration team of the school were present on the occasion.
A special assembly was organised in the multi-purpose hall where the guests expressed their pride in the rich heritage and culture of their country.
Dr Mohan Thomas in his address emphasised how the Indian community in Qatar needs to contribute towards the betterment of the society, and compassion towards one another should be the most important virtue of life.
PN Babu Rajan and Ziad Usman motivated the students through their inspirational words.
A speech-cum-poetry dramatisation was staged by students of the Primary wing to evoke the true spirit of the day and a beautiful patriotic song was sung mellifluously by the Secondary School choir. This was followed by the much awaited launch of the school’s first Year Book, ‘Reflections’.
