Carrefour Qatar hosted a beach clean-up in Al Wakra recently, in collaboration with Al Wakra Municipality.
The event is one of many sustainability initiatives that Carrefour has set out to pursue throughout 2021.
The beach clean-up saw a positive turnout with 30 people.
Laurent Hausknecht, country manager of Carrefour Qatar, said, “We continue to organise initiatives that align with our mission to set standards for sustainable, responsible, self-sufficient business. As we grow, we strive to enhance our surrounding communities by giving them the opportunity to take an active part in environmental conservation events.”
He added: “We thank the Al Wakra Municipality for their partnership and we appreciate the participation of our colleagues and all the volunteers who participated.”
Carrefour’s sustainability plan includes a number of initiatives, such as cleaning beaches, not running plastic days in-store, and encouraging customers to shop with reusable bags.
