Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, has announced that it has organised a clean-up event in honour of Qatar Environment Day 2021 in collaboration with the Ministry of the Municipality and Environment.
A dedicated team of Ooredoo volunteers attended the Rawdat Althemaid area at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021, clearing up any garbage left behind by previous visitors and ensuring that the environment was left spotless as it should be. The Minister of the Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie visited the site and commended the efforts made to maintain the cleanliness of the area.
In keeping with the ethos of the day, some trees were also planted by volunteers.
The event was part of the ongoing initiative of Ooredoo, which aims to achieve complete cleanliness of beaches, archeological sites and tourist sites in partnership with local authorities.
The event was attended by representatives from Ooredoo and the Ministry of the Municipality and Environment, with numbers strictly limited to complying with current social distance rules.
Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari, Director PR at Ooredoo, said: “We’re proud to be working with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment as part of our corporate social responsibility commitment to sustainability. We all have a responsibility to protect the environment, and a duty to ensure we never leave trash behind; imagine what we could achieve if each of us gave just a few minutes of our time to clean up any mess? We were delighted to see our Ooredoo volunteers giving up their time at the weekend for the benefit of our beautiful country and its citizens and residents, and we look forward to many more such events in the future.”
