Kabul: A Taliban commander killed three family members of a slain journalist in the western Afghan province of Ghor, Afghanistan’s human rights body said Sunday. Journalist Bismillah Adel Aimaq, the editor-in-chief of a private radio station in his province, was shot dead by unknown gunmen on January 1 this year. On Thursday, armed men attacked his father’s house on the outskirts of Firoz Koh city. The motive of the attack is still not clear. Alongside the three deaths, the Taliban commander wounded four and abducted another three members of the family in the attack, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said. The AIHRC called on the relevant authorities to investigate. Attacks against journalists have increased in recent months. According to NAI, a media watchdog and advocacy organization, at least 11 media workers were killed in Afghanistan last year. (dpa)
