JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha has announced the appointment of the new culinary leader, Steven Peter, as the new Executive Chef.
Executive Chef Steven Peter developed his first love of food back to his childhood in Bavaria and his grandma. As a food lover and a culinary expert, he remembers the most memorable food he had eaten in his life when his grandma was cooking at home and came back from school for a delicious meal. Then, when he was 14 years old, he decided to cook.
Executive Chef Steven Peter’s culinary journey has taken him all over the world, bringing his distinguished talent and experience to luxury hotels. As Chef himself admits, working in award-winning restaurants has significantly influenced his culinary skills, allowing him to create unique flavor combinations through the use of locally sourced products, presented in a simple yet sophisticated way. He has extensive experience in seafood since he spent almost four years in Pierchic, a multi-award winning seafood restaurant, awarded the Best Seafood Restaurant four times during his time there. "Cooking has so many wonderful memories of my childhood. And food memories not only satisfy your taste buds, but also the heart and soul. I love creating the same kind of moments and memories for my guests through my food,” said Peter, sharing his thoughts on the latest culinary trends.
"Social media, in particular, is essential for culinary experts of all levels of experience and traditions, as it is an important way to be visible in different markets. I spend a lot of time on Instagram, which is a great medium for me to keep up to date with what people want to see and eat. Technology has a huge impact on our lives. I see a huge potential for virtual culinary experiences, such as cooking classes, Chef’s tables, workshops, and so on. In the coming months, we will present new kinds of culinary experiences on different platforms at the JW Marriott Marquis City Center in Doha. Looking forward to meeting the foodies in Qatar.”
Chef Steven Peter joins JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha in his previous role as Culinary Director at Marriott International Middle East and Africa in developing hotel restaurant and lounge concepts. Before that, Steven was Executive Chef at the Ritz Carlton Al Wadi Desert and the Ritz Carlton Al Hamra Beach in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. He also worked as Executive Sous Chef at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai. Previous positions include Madinat Jumeirah Resort, Al Qasr and Bristol Hotel in Germany.
As a brilliant professional, he was awarded one Gold Medal and two Silver Medals at the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg in 2018, two Gold Medals at the FHA National Team Challenge Competition in Singapore in 2018, and a Winner of Culinary Excellence in Middle East and Africa in 2016
As Executive Chef, Chef Steven Peter brings his excellent culinary and management skills to the hotel as he oversees all of its food and beverage outlets and catering services.
