The College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Service Academy (NSA) of the Ministry of Defence for enhancing collaboration between the two sides.
The agreement puts forward an ambitious plan that fully explores joint initiatives and helps support exchange of ideas and partnership in the fields of education, research, training and development.
The agreement was signed by Dr Salem Al Naemi, CNA-Q’s president, and HE Staff Major-General Saeed bin Hamad Al Nuaimi, president of the NSA, in the presence of Dr Mohammed Al Sada, chairman of CNA-Q’s Board of Trustees and former minister of energy and industry, Dr Ibrahim Saleh Al Naimi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and member of the college’s Board otf Trustees, and Dr Mohammed Al Mulla, vice-chairman of CNA-Q’s Board of Trustees and managing director and CEO of Qatar Petrochemical Co.
The MoU provides the two sides with a framework to conduct customised teaching programmes and academic initiatives. It will also act as a platform to enhance research projects and organise joint conferences and activities.
Dr Al Naemi said: “We are proud to sign this MoU with NSA and we thank them for their trust in CNA-Q. As an institution of excellence in technical and vocational education and training in Qatar, we will put our expertise, and specifically, the School of Health Sciences’ knowledge and its internationally accredited programmes in the service of the NSA. This will be a first step towards tailoring one-of-a-kind applied programmes for the cadets in order to develop their physical and mental ability, so they can become active members in the society and play a leading role in the State’s development.
“Furthermore, CNA-Q’s counsellors will visit the NSA to introduce cadets to the different programmes that the college offers and guide them to choose the right course of study. This new partnership will further strengthen our ties with governmental entities and give CNA-Q the chance to better serve its country, through education, training and research.”
First Lieutenant Ahmed Hassan Ashir, who is responsible for physical development at NSA, said: “This joint collaboration will provide further development in the fields of training, academic teaching, physical ability and fitness. It will be a platform for experience sharing and joint initiatives. The academy is keen on providing its cadets with a leading physical development programme that is developed by health academics. This programme will contribute to the enhancement of the community’s public health, and will have a great impact on the combat readiness of the armed forces in general, and the national service units in particular.”
After the ceremony, the dignitaries were invited to tour the NSA facilities and get to know the environment in which cadets are being trained.
The agreement supports the Qatar National Vision 2030, especially the human development and educated population pillars that mention the importance of providing citizens with excellent training and opportunities to develop to their full potential (physically and mentally), preparing them for success in a changing world with increasingly complex technical requirements.
