To commemorate the country’s Independence Day on March 1, the embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by HE Ambassador Haris Lukovac and several members of staff and the Bosnian community living in Qatar, joined the Department of Public Parks of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) at the Old Airport Park.
A number of trees suitable for the local climate were planted. The event was organised in strict compliance with the guidelines for prevention of COVID-19.
“What better way is there to mark important occasions like this than to do something that benefits our entire society and our planet. We are very grateful to the MME for giving us the opportunity to take part in the development of Doha while celebrating Bosnia,” said Haris Alisic.
“This is just one of the many activities that the Bosnian community in Qatar has taken part in so far as many more are planned. I would like to take this opportunity to thank MME for recognising the importance of this cooperation and the way in which the Bosnian community can contribute to the further development of the state,” said Mirsad Selimovic.
“Qatar and Bosnia are two brotherly countries that continue to strengthen their relationship. I would personally like to thank MME and the Qatari authorities under the leadership of His Highness Sheik Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani for all their efforts so far to develop our ties,” said Haris Lukovac, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
