Qatar Charity (QC) has delivered many wheelchairs to the Elderly Empowerment and Care Center (Ehsan) to provide them for key shopping malls in the country, with the goal of facilitating the movement and mobility of the elderly while shopping.
Qatar Charity, which is concerned with the health development of the elderly in society, provided the wheelchairs as part of its efforts to promote the recognition of their contributions to social, economic, and cultural development, support their active participation in various fields, and raise awareness of their rights in society.
Farid Khalil Al-Siddiqi, Head of the Local Projects Section at Qatar Charity’s Programs and Community Development Sector, handed over the wheelchairs to Jaber Muhammed Al-Marri, Manager of Ehsan’s Communication and Media Office, which provides various services such as psychosocial care and organizes various events and activities for society’s elderly. The mementos were exchanged between the two sides after the wheelchairs were handed over.
According to Farid Khalil Al-Siddiqi, the donation of wheelchairs to Ehsan is part of Qatar Charity’s community service efforts in collaboration with various organizations, youth initiatives, and individuals. He also mentioned how Qatar Charity had previously donated wheelchairs to the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs and the Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities.
Al-Siddiqi went on to say that Qatar Charity hopes to provide electric wheelchairs for the elderly with the help of Qatari benefactors who can donate through Qatar Charity’s website, App, and collection points, making it easier for the elderly to move around. In Ramadan, Qatar Charity also pays visits to the elderly and holds other programs for them, he added.
Jaber Mohammed Al Marri, Manager of Communications and Media Office at Ehsan, thanked Qatar Charity for donating the wheelchairs for the elderly, noting that Qatar Charity is an important partner for Ehsan, providing support for the elderly’s services.
Al-Marri added that the wheelchair service will be available at shopping malls where the elderly go shopping, and that he hopes to provide more services for them in other places, such as tourist attractions, with the support and cooperation of various bodies throughout the country. He also stated that Qatar Charity is eager to implement many projects for the elderly in collaboration with Ehsan, in addition to Ramadan programmes for them.
