Qatar has called for efforts to reduce tensions and end crises in the Middle East, in view of the challenges the region is witnessing, including the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. It stressed the need for fruitful cooperation and the consolidation of the principles of good neighbourhood and mutual respect.
This came in a statement made by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani before the UN Security Council Open Debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.
The statement stressed Qatar’s support of all international efforts aiming to make a real progress in settling the Middle-East’s long-lasting issue, noting that this calls for continued attention from the UN Security Council and the solidarity of the international community with the Palestinian people until they obtain their full rights, ending their sufferings, and creating favourable conditions for the peace process.
