Resuming weekly upward trend, the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index gained 66.48 points, or 0.61 percent, during the week to close at 10,911.40 points.
Market capitalisation increased by 0.5 percent to QR630.88 billion as compared to QR627.32 billion at the end of the previous week.
Foreign institutions remained bullish to end the week with net buying of QR168 million against net buying of QR338 million in the previous week. Foreign retail investors also ended the week with net buying of QR13 million against net buying of QR51 million in the previous week.
So far year-to-date (as of Wednesday closing), foreigners were net buyers of $556.7 million worth of Qatari shares.
Qatari institutions, however, remained negative with net selling of QR168 million against net selling of QR441 million in the week before.
Qatari retail investors also turned bearish with net selling of QR13 million against net buying of QR52 million the week before. Trading value during the week decreased by 13.6 percent to reach QR2.690 billion against QR3.112 billion in the previous trading week. Qatar Aluminium Manufacturing Company (Qamco) was the top value traded stock during the week with a total traded value of QR462 million.
The week saw trading volume decline by 20.9 percent to 1.278 billion shares against 1.616 billion shares in the previous trading week.
The total number of transactions during the week also decreased by 18.1 percent to reach 49,216 against 60,067 in the previous week. Qamco was also the top volume traded stock during the week with total traded volume of 300.8 million shares.
Qatar Cinema (QCFS) was the best performing stock for the week, with a gain of 13.9 percent. On the other hand, Widam Food was the worst-performing stock with a decline of 14.7 percent.
Industries Qatar (IQ), Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding (MPHC) and Qamco were the primary contributors to the weekly index gain. IQ was the biggest contributor to the index’s weekly increase, adding 66.6 points to the index. MPHC contributed 12.7 points to the index. Qamco added another 9.8 points.
Of the 48 listed companies, 20 companies closed the week in the positive territory, while 27 fell and one remained unchanged.
